the benefits of Fennel seeds
"Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a highly aromatic and flavorful herb with culinary and medicinal uses.
Fennel is widely cultivated, both in its native range and elsewhere, for its edible, strongly flavored leaves and seeds. Its inflated leaf bases are eaten as a vegetable, both raw and cooked.
Dried fennel seed is an aromatic, brown or green in colour when fresh, slowly turning a dull grey as the seed ages, but for cooking, green seeds are optimal. Fennel is used in side dishes, salads, pastas, vegetable dishes and risottos.
Fennel can be used as a safe and effective herbal drug for primary dysmenorrheal.
Root extracts were often used in tonics to clear cloudy eyes. It is also used for treatment of hypertension , chronic coughs ,as a galactagogue, ( improving the milk supply of a breastfeeding mother) , and also as a flavouring in some natural toothpastes."
